The Challenges of Rural Education

I was a little disappointed that the new blogger for Bridging Differences is another urban educator.  Like Deborah Meier, his ties are to New York City. And while certainly urban schools have huge issues, there are real challenges for rural schools as well from funding to access to high quality teachers to declining communities. Having moved to a rural community a year ago, I feel like I should do more to bring attention to those issues. For today, I’ll start with some links and a great video about how one school worked to revitalize its curriculum in the face of potential closure:
