Mirtzoeff, in the introduction to visual culture, discusses Edward Steichen’s famous photographic exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art.  It was supposed to display how photographs acted as “miror of the essential oneness of mankind throughout the world” (p. 194).

The series is now housed in the Chateau de Clervaux in Luxemborg.
