EdWeek Open House

This notice from Education Week was in my email this morning:

Dear Educator:

The Back-to-School Open House is here! Our doors are wide open from September 1 through September 7, which means you’ll have full access to everything our premium subscribers see daily! The Open House is a great opportunity for you to dive into areas and issues in K-12 education you care deeply about, and catch up on them while it’s free.  Here’s what you can get to during the next week:

Enjoy these free, new tools to help you get the most out of edweek.org and stay current today and every day.

  • News widgets allow you to easily keep up with education’s top stories, blogs, and job listings right on your website, blog, iGoogle, Facebook or MySpace page.  You simply select the widgets you want, copy the html code to your page, and all updates are automatic from there!  There are many topics to choose from.
  • Editorial Projects in Education Research Center’s new feature on its edweek Maps Website allows you to access and download detailed reports on high school graduation rates for every school district or congressional district in the United States.

Remember, the Open House is only for a week, today through September 7, but you can still enjoy free access to edweek.org and Education Week afterwards by starting a free trial subscription. Click here to start your free trial of print and online access: www.edweek.org/go/4weektrial.

Enjoy your free access, and welcome back to the 2008-09 school year.

Best regards,

  1. If you want to continue having free access to the EdWeek site after the trial, it’s pretty easy. Find a school administrator who subscribes to the dead-tree edition (and has no clue about using the web beyond Google) and use the code on their mailing label to register. You could also ask for permission to use their code like I did. 🙂
